About Seas the Day:
This year, Seas the Day will be the Fifth Annual production of the Veterans' Outdoor Day Event. This event was created by 4S: Student Supporting Soldier pSychology, a student organization at the University of Virginia, with the help of community partners. The event is now run by the West Point Society of Monticello, with our original 4S folks still supporting. Our event was generously chosen as a recipient of funds raised from the 4 Our Freedom 5K put on yearly by ParadeRest in 2019. ParadeRest supports local veterans organizations, celebrates local veterans, records veterans' stories and puts on yearly events. Seas the Day has grown into a conglomerate of local organizations and veterans groups coming together to put on this spectacular event.
Our goal for this event is to provide a free, fun day for veterans in the Charlottesville community. Many local veteran-friendly organizations, businesses and groups will be present to come together and build community. There will be opportunities to learn something new, make a connection, access services, and celebrate the strengths of our local veterans.
There will be spin and fly fishing instruction offered; and we encourage fisherman with valid licenses and their own fishing tools to cast a line at our event. The event will feature a free picnic catered by Mission BBQ. We hope veterans and their families and friends are as excited as we are to have this day of fun and appreciation for our local veterans!
